Sometime in my teenage years, my mother gifted me a book called "Concentration and meditation". it was written by Swami Sivananda of the Advaita Ashram in North India. Swami Sivananda asked one to abjure newspapers and other sources of news even in those days, well before social media even existed as a concept.
I am beginning to see the value of that advice, though even yet I am not sure that it is correct or even feasible.
